DNA: The Gospel

November 13, 2025

Summary: The Gospel is the fulcrum around which a healthy micro-church pivots and gains momentum.

Disciple-making movements keep the gospel core to their message, their practices, their spiritual formation, and their vision.

When we keep the gospel core, we guard against a me-centered church and become a missional church. Individualism crumbles under the weight of the Mission of God. And there is nothing more forming than the willingness to humbly share the gospel to an often resistant world.

When we keep the gospel core, we partner with the Holy Spirit’s main purpose on earth: to reveal Jesus in and through every believer. The Holy Spirit readily affirms our message with boldness, signs and wonders. We walk in intimacy with Him, following His leading and crying out for a generation and culture to be transformed by the Good News.

When we keep the gospel core, we remove the distance between “laity and clergy.” The priesthood of all believers becomes the norm and every believer, no matter their calling or vocation, is reminded of their responsibility to share the gospel. The gospel is a leveler. Leaders are reminded they must share the gospel not just on platforms, but in the marketplace and with friends and family. Church attenders are reminded that bringing a person to church, though a great step in a persons journey, is not sharing the gospel. A believer must communicate the gospel in their own social circles where they have influence, and also, bravely, where they do not.

When we keep the gospel core, we remove hinderances experienced by the marginalized in our churches. We want the gospel to be heard far and wide. Therefore we communicate through our words and actions that anyone and everyone has permission be a sharer of the gospel, no matter their gender, education, or social status. When the gospel is the core, cultural and social biases lose their power in the overwhelming reality of the Mission of God.
