How can generosity be experienced in my small group?
Hebrews 13:16 “And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need.”
One of the joys of being in a small group is that generosity can be participated by everyone! After we pray for one another’s needs, we can offer a simple question: “How can we help?” There may be those times when there is no need to ask, but you just begin offering help. In this way you can model a practical approach to generosity to your small group.
When a significant financial need arises in the group, we may feel our “little offering” is pointless. But the amount is not what’s important. Rather, it’s the full participation in generosity that is so vital to a small group.
Remember, there are practical ways to be generous beyond financial gifts: time given to babysit; offering to drive when someone’s car breaks down; taking a meal to a person in your group who is stressed by a busy schedule, being a resource of helpful counsel in navigating difficult details about taxes, medical care, schooling for kids — the lists are endless!
Every person in your small group has their own unique gifts, personality, and experiences that qualifies them to be generous in impactful ways.
