Small Group Toolbox: Simple Church Practices in Small Groups?
Summary:
In the “Toolbox” series of blogs we’ll answer some of the most common questions about leading small groups. If you have questions you’d like answered, just drop us a message!
What Church Practices can we experience in our small group?
Many of the simple practices of a healthy church can be experienced in a small group. Fellowship, prayer, worship, generosity, water baptism, teaching, the Lord’s Supper and Holy Spirit baptism. This year, we will answer the question of “how” for each of these practices in the context of our small groups.
It is important to know you have permission to experience these practices with a small group of believers. To follow Jesus, in small groups, by doing what the early church did, we are learning to be the church as God intended. In this way we will become healthier churches.
Where do I begin?
A great place to begin is to look at Acts 2:41-45 together as a small group. What practices do you notice in this passage? Discuss what it would look like to practice these together in your small group. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you remove restrictions, if you have any, and to put on a humble, simple faith of serving God together.
